The Mount Olive Kiwanis delivered ten (10) overflowing pickup truck loads worth of Hurricane Katrina relief supplies to Perth Amboy, where 100 families are evacuating to. Loading, transporting, and unloading the truck, provided by Jones Estate Cleanouts, took volunteers about 5 hours on Saturday, October 8. To date, Kiwanis has collected and distributed a volume of supplies estimated at 40 cubic yards, or enough to overfill 20 pickup trucks. Items have included diapers, wipes, non-perishable foods, clothing, toys, books, strollers, high chairs, car seats, changing tables, bedding, furniture, household appliances, and more. Collections continue at Ropp Family Chiropractic, 193 Route 206 N Bldg 2 in Flanders 973-927-8120, and Chepi Chepi Inc., 100 US Highway 46 in Budd Lake 973-426-9993.
