Press Release
September 24, 2005
The Mount Olive Kiwanis have delivered five (5) overflowing pickup truck loads worth of Hurricane Katrina relief supplies to Quirk Moving Company in Netcong. Destination: Mississippi. Items delivered included diapers, wipes, non-perishable foods, clothing, toys, strollers, high chairs, changing tables, bedding, and more. Trucks to Netcong were provided by Moore Control Exterminating Company 973-398-0990 and Jones Estate Cleanouts 973-347-1725. Collections continue at Ropp Family Chiropractic, 193 Route 206 N Bldg 2 in Flanders 973-927-8120, and Chepi Chepi Inc., 100 US Highway 46 in Budd Lake 973-426-9993.
The Mount Olive Kiwanis have also continued tsunami relief efforts by co-sponsoring a new Kiwanis Club in Indonesia for $87.50. The other co-sponsors are the Kiwanis Clubs of Hackettstown, Washington, and Phillipsburg. Through the World Link Program, existing Kiwanis clubs can help build new clubs and establish lasting, mutually rewarding Kiwanis partnerships. Kiwanis International provides the sponsoring clubs with contacts in the new clubs. Then, the sponsoring clubs correspond with the new clubs to determine the kind of support that is needed and to give advice about service projects, membership growth, and administration. Many clubs that have been involved in such sponsoring relationships have been corresponding for more than 20 years, and exchange visits occur regularly.
